Geocache Description:

This cache is not very hard to find, but you will need to crawl 70 ft back into a Culvert. it is Dark back There so Bring a flashlight. There should not be any water to crawl in unless it just rained. Please place the cache exactly where you found it so it doesn't wash away after it rains. Located right along the highway in Benton. There is a spot to park between the church and the corner.

The small town of Benton is located on US 33 just north of the Elkart River. There is a plaque on the east side of the road marking the spot where settlers used to ford the river back in the day. To read it you will have to walk a block south, or pull off on the side of the bridge.

The Lincoln Highway followed the route of US 33 from Fort Wayne to South Bend from its beginnings in 1913, until it was rerouted to US 30 in 1928.
