First a little History:Bricktown
began as a military outpost following the Land run of 1889.The army
eventally sold the land to individuals and companies who turned the
area into a trade center.
Between 1889 and 1904, the Santa
FE, RockIsland, Frisco and MK&T railroads laid tracks through
Oklahoma City that connected the prairie commuity with the rest of
the world.
Early structures were typically
one or two stories with arched windows and decorative doorways. The
unifying characteristic of all the buliding in the district was the
red brick used to buildthem-nence the name
Bricktown.
