Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Richmond Hill Public Library! All stages are fully wheelchair accessible via elevator. Please note the available days and times that this cache may be found: Monday - Thursday from 9:30 am - 9:00 pm, Friday from 9:30 am - 6:00 pm, Saturday from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm, and Sunday from Noon - 5:00 pm.

This is the main branch of the Richmond Hill library system, built at the top of one portion of the hill that this town is named for. It provides a great view looking south down the hill and toward Toronto from the third floor, with a full wall of windows and places to sit. Also within close distance is a wave pool, Richmond Hill Performing Arts Centre, public transit, a great toboggan hill, and the historic downtown.

At the posted coordinates is a Peace Pole. Count how many languages are on this pole. Take that single-digit number and add 227 to it to get the north minutes for the final (N 043 52._ _ _). Take that same single-digit number and add 338 to it to get the west minutes for the final (W 079 26._ _ _). This final set of coordinates is inside the library, and will take you to the general area on the third floor that the final cache is located in.

Once inside, proceed to the third floor and use the next two stages to determine the additional information needed to locate the final container: each highlights an art piece. There are both stairs and elevator access to these from the main floor foyer. Although waypoints for the indoor stages are given, please note that the building being made of cement has made exact coordinates tricky. Please use the detailed hints for each stage below or you can also decrypt the encoded spoiler hint to get straight to the final.

Stage 2 (Reference Point 2): she has her back turned to the south view and is well sculpted. Find her description plate and note the year that she was donated.

Stage 3 (Reference Point 3): quilt on the wall by the computers--find the church in the hoop on the bottom right corner and note what it's five-digit address is.

Final:

  • Take the year from Stage 2 and subtract 1,346 from it. This is A.
  • Take the five-digit address from Stage 3 and subtract 6,523 from it. This is B.
  • You are looking for REF A.B JEN This will not be GPS coordinates. A spoiler hint, if needed, is included in the Hints.

Permission for, and assistance with placing, this cache has been provided by the Richmond Hill Public Library, Main Branch staff.
