During the heydays of drive-in theatres, Edmonton was the drive-in capital of Canada when there were 9 theatres here in the mid 1970s. The Twin Drive-In opened in 1970 at 137 Ave and 140 St. It had a 2 storey projection building with the projector located in the upper floor and a large snack bar on the main floor that served both screens. The movies shown varied significantly from popular hits to the very racy. On colder nights free in car heaters were provided.
The Twin Drive-In closed in 1998 and the screens were demolished in 2002.
