Gilbert Buote (20 February 1XXX – 16 July 1904) was an Acadian educatorpublisher andauthor.[1]

Buote was born in MiscouchePrince Edward Island. He, along with his son François-Joseph, founded and published the first Acadian newspaper on the Island, L'Impartial. His novel,Placide, l'homme mystérieux, was published in 30 installments in L'Impartial, between 1YYY and 1906. Gilbert was married to Madeleine Gallant on 20 February 1860. He died inTignish, Prince Edward Island.
