History of Rainworth Village Hall
The village hall was built in 1929, originally as The Drill Hall which was used by organisations like the Girls’ and Boys’ Brigades, who were taught to march by first world war veterans.
Gymnastic equipment was used by boys who were instructed in the art of boxing and Indian club swinging. Girls were taught dancing.
The hub of village life was almost lost completely to a fire in 2004 but the parish council and management committee rallied and the new hall re-opened in August 2006, like a Phoenix from the ashes, to a grand gala opening.
