Geocache Description:

This is the third year that we have hosted an event in one of the "spring" parks of North Central Florida.  Again it is held in conjunction with the reintroduction of geocaching to the park where the event is held.

The event will officially begin at 10 a.m., with lunch around noon, and end at 2 p.m. You are welcome to come early, stay late, or even camp the weekend.

There are many restaurants and stores where any "essentials" or emergency supplies can be purchased 6 miles away in Chiefland. There are also a couple hotels should you prefer "cushier" accommodations. There are many things to do and see at Manatee Springs State Park, great for family, friends, people of all ages and abilities. For complete details, you can visit their website.

We will have a couple contests, a couple games, some great fellowship, and, hopefully, some wonderful food, before, after, or during the time we are searching the paths and trails. There are only 2 older caches in the park currently, but there may be new ones added soon.

Please post your "Will attend" so we know what size pavilion to reserve, and bring your favorite dish or dessert. IMPORTANT: This is a "pot-luck" lunch, so please bring your signature good eats. Some sort of basic meat will be provided. We HIGHLY recommend that you wear good hiking boots, bring a walking stick, carry some bug spray...and don't forget the water!!

Hours:

The park is open from 8:00 a.m. until sundown, 365 days a year.

Admission Fees:
$6.00 per vehicle. Limit 2-8 people per vehicle.
$4.00 Single Occupant Vehicle.
$2.00 Pedestrians, bicyclists, extra passengers, passengers in vehicle with holder of Annual Individual Entrance Pass.
Thank you to Mark Abrizenski, the Park Manager for his support of our hobby and his enthusiasm at welcoming geocaching to the area parks once again.
