Looking for a medium bison tube. Only room for a log. BYOP. Respect the hide and the property please return to the original hiding spot. Not sure how accessible this will be during the winter. It all depends on how much you are willing to dig, if need be. Keep in mind that this business is not open , it basically looks like an abandoned building, so I would avoid spending too much time if you don't want to look suspicious . Permission granted from building/land owner.
CONGRATS TO W9SBU ON THE FTF! đđ€đ» Built in 1952, this building was formerly the Veterans of Foreign Wars headquarters. Rumor says they served the best fish fry in town. The VFW members had sold the business years ago to owner Gayle who chose to name the place Timbuktu. I'm not sure why she chose that name, but it does seem to be a popular name for a tavern or restaurant. Just Google it! The real Timbuktu is a city in Mali, West Africa. It traces its existence back to the 12th century. It was founded by the Tuareg people to use during the rainy season to provide pasturage for their animals. Itâs on the south edge of the Sahara desert near where the Niger River begins its northward flow. It became a trading spot exchanging salt for gold and later a center of Muslim study. Maybe because of its remotenessâone source I consulted said there is an airport there, but no rail service nor well-paved roadsâitâs become synonymous with exotic and remoteness. Its population is around 54,000. I donât know where the expression âFrom here to Timbuktuâ came from. Other than being a âwatering hole,â Oshkoshâs Timbuktu has no connection with its African namesake. Nor does this tavern look like any of the boom town buildings in town. Regardless, i have been told, that I deep fryer was left on and this is why the back half of the building burnt down. As far as the original brick building goes, at one point it was the planned go-to place in the event of fallout. Rumor has it that this was also a secret meeting place for the KKK. If either of those last two statements hold any water oh, it's beyond me. More than anything, I'm curious to see what the new owners will do with the property this time around. After seeing what they did with two other businesses in this town, I don't think we'll be disappointed.
