NETS: North End Trail System of Manatee Springs State Park comprises about 8.5 miles of peaceful and varied ecosystems. Don't let the distances keep you from enjoying this wonderful and often under-utilized area of the park. Park in the designated area and DO NOT drive through the gate if it is open.
Descendants of this family still live in the area. Little remains of the original community named for this family that sprung up after the family moved to higher ground about 4 miles SE of here. There is only a cemetery, and the second house that is mentioned on this sign, now located about 3 miles east on the Manatee Springs road. What you need to do is find and read this history sign, located at the posted coordinates.
Using the following coordinates: N 29 30.148 W 082 57.570, add the 3-digit price paid to the last 3 digits of the north coordinate and add the first 3 digits of the year purchased to the last 3 digits of the west coordinate. This will take you to the final location.
Hours:
The park is open from 8:00 a.m. until sundown, 365 days a year.
Admission Fees:
$6.00 per vehicle. Limit 2-8 people per vehicle.
$4.00 Single Occupant Vehicle.
$2.00 Pedestrians, bicyclists, extra passengers, passengers in vehicle with holder of Annual Individual Entrance Pass.
Lace up the hiking boots, grab your walking stick, pack some bug spray....and don't forget the water! You will get sketchy reception in some areas, but be patient and you will find everything. All geocaches are per park rules, usually within a few feet of the trail, and never requiring any damage to the flora or terrain. Please, do NOT bushwhack from one trail to the next.
