La chiesa parrocchiale di Cornaiano ricopre un ruolo fondamentale nella vita degli abitanti di questo paese.
La chiesa parrocchiale è dedicata al Santo Martino di Tours. L’11 novembre ogni anno a Coranaiano è organizzato un mercatino chiamato “Martinimarkt”.
La chiesa, eretta nel 1272 si trova sulla piccola e raccolta piazza del paese. Nel corso dei secoli la chiesa cambiò il suo aspetto, nel 15 secolo vennero aggiunti dei dipinti. L’edificio sacro, come lo vediamo oggi risale al 1838.
Sul campanile e sul coro si possono ancora scorgere alcuni elementi appartenenti al tardo gotico. La facciata e l’interno vennero costruiti, sotto la direzione di Giambattista Tacchi, in stile neo-classico. Gli affreschi sul soffitto sono stati eseguiti da Christoph Brandstätter grazie ai quali si riesce a percepire tutta l’energia dello stile Barocco.
Il campanile, con una bella cupola a bulbo si trova sul lato sud della chiesa. Gli altari sono in marmo. Le decorazioni sugli altari sono state eseguite da Michael Andersag di Foiana.
Pfarrkirche Girlan
Die Pfarrkirche in Girlan spielt eine zentrale Rolle im Leben der Bürger des sonnigen Dorfes.
Die Pfarrkirche ist dem Heiligen Martin von Tours geweiht. Am 11. November jedes Jahres wird in Girlan der Martinimarkt veranstaltet. Ein Fest in Gedenken an den Heiligen Martin.
Die Kirche steht auf dem kleinen, anschaulichen Dorfplatz und prägt ihn entscheidend mit. Sie wurde im Jahre 1272 zum ersten Mal erwähnt und ihre erste Version wahrscheinlich auch in jener Epoche erbaut. Im 15. Jahrhundert wurde das Gotteshaus mehrere Male umgestaltet. Das Gotteshaus, wie wir es heute kennen, wurde im Jahr 1838 geweiht.
Heute stecken die Überreste aus der Spätgotik im Erdgeschoss des Turmes und im Chor. Die Fassade und der Innenraum wurden im spätklassizistischen Stil und unter der Leitung von Stadtbaumeister Giambattista Tacchi konstruiert. Die Deckengemälde stammen hingegen von Christoph Brandstätter (Kötschach) und geben der Stimmung im Raum viel barocke Energie.
Der Turm mit einem schönen Zwiebelhelm steht am südlichen Teil der Kirche.
Die Altäre sind aus Marmor, wie ehemals im 17. Jahrhundert. Der Hochaltar stammt aus Peri, das bei Verona liegt. Die sogenannten Altarblätter bemalte Michael Andersag aus Völlan.
Cornaiano parish church
The parish church of Cornaiano has a central role to play in the life of the inhabitants of the sun-drenched Cornaiano.
The Parish church is dedicated to Saint Martin of Tours. On 11 of November every year in Girlan the “Martinimarkt” takes place, a festival in honour of the Saint.
The church is located on the little, charming village square and is decisive for the appearance of the village. It was mentioned for the first time in 1272 and probably constructed in the same epoch. In the 15th century the church has been changed several times. In the present form, the church has been consecrated in the year 1838.
Remnants of the late-Gothic are perceivable in the ground floor of the steeple and in the choir. The facade and the interiors were realised in the late classical style and under the artistic direction of the town master manson Giambattista Tacchi. The ceiling paintings have been realised by Christoph Brandstätter (Kätschach) and provide the atmosphere with a Baroque touch.
The steeple with its beautiful bulbous spire can be found in the southof the church. The altars are made of marble, like once upon a time in the 17th century. The high altar comes from Peri, located close to Verona. The altar stone was decorated by Michael Andersag from Foiana.
