Welcome to Denton and the opening event of the five-day 16th Annual TXGA Texas Challenge and Festival.
Step back in time at the sweetest spot in Denton's downtown square, a U.S. designated Historic District.
Beth Marie's Old-Fashioned Ice Cream & Soda Fountain serves over 100 flavors of cold creamy goodness. The fabulous flavors include Cupcake, Sinful Oats, Raspberry Truffle, Jameson, Red Wine and Bleu, Hansel and Gretel, Purple Cow, French Toast, Salty Dog, Sweet Sunflower, Jack and Coke, Honey & Lavender, Courthouse Pecan, Elvis, Shiner Bock, Wobbly Monkey, Guiness and Dr Pepper-flavored Texas Doctor.
The delicious ice cream is made on site by hand, the old fashioned way, in a 1937 Emory Thomas ice cream machine. The product is 14% premium cream, making it very rich and fluffy.
The 80-year-old maker is not the only throwback; the interior of the parlor is a time machine day trip. You feel the blast from the past with the checkerboard floor, bar stools, marble counters, polished soda fountain and full-length mirrored wall. The setting provides a glimpse of an ice cream parlor from bygone days.
Whether you enjoy a banana split, phosphate, egg cream, ice cream soda or waffle cone, choosing your favorite flavor is half the fun.
