Number 995 in a series of caches where a red telephone box is in close proximity to a post box. The only rules are that they have to be able to be photographed together, be not more than 100’ apart and the phone boxes have to be red.
The published co-ordinates are for where the phone box and letter box are located. This is at the edge of a large car park. The area is home also to a waste bin and skip, as well as where the local supermarket trolleys are placed, awaiting return to the shop.
Watlington is an ancient market town, thought to be the smallest town in England. The population at the 2011 Census was 2,727. The town centre streets are old and narrow; certainly not designed for 21st century transport. Congestion often occurs. The town is known as being one of the communities where the TV series ‘Midsomer Murders’ has been filmed.
