Geocache Description:

Lazing by the banks of a lagoon, this Geocache is situated amongst a favourite feeding spot of South Straddie's local Wallaby population.

The wallaby is the most common native animal found on South Stradbroke Island and two species can be observed.  The golden wallaby (Wallabia welsbyi), a colour variant of the black-tailed swamp wallaby (Wallabia bicolour) can only be found on Stradbroke and Peel islands.  The agile wallaby (Macropus agilis) is easily identified by a light coloured stripe across the haunch.

Best times to spot them are dawn and dusk.
