Born in 18AB, this person is credited for creating the Met Office and for Captaining HMS Beagle’s second voyage with Charles Darwin in 1831 – 1836.
They had a wide and varied career with the Navy including a period where they were Governor of New Zealand which he took up in December of 18CD.
Unfortunately due to financial problems, ill health and depression, they took their own life in18EF.
