Geocache Description:

Co-ords are for where Fir Lodge College used to be, no cache can be found there.

In 1884 Ernest Shackleton moved to 12 Westow Hill and attended Fir Lodge College in 1885, before attending Dulwich College.

In 18AB Fir Lodge was demolished and in its place Sydenham Public Hall was built in 1897. It was not a success and closed in 1903.

During the build though a small piece of land was given to The Board of Works and on this land a fountain to celebrate Queen Victoria’s diamond jubilee was built in 1897 .

Just down the road at number C Jews Walk, lived Eleanor Marx (daughter of Karl) there is a blue plaque to commemorate this fact, dates on this plaque read 185D-189E
