Welcome to Norfolk's newest memorial located at the Larchmont Library and park along the Elizabeth River Trail. As this is a park, caching is from dawn to dusk.
This traveling Memorial was installed and maintained by Mission 22 to bring awareness to veteran suicide. Due to the large military presence in the area, Norfolk is the first public display of the Memorial; it will be here for over a year. Around the Trail and the Library, there are twenty large plates. Families of service members who lost a loved one provided pictures of them in uniform. From those pictures, the silhouette of the service member was carved into the 10' by 4' by 2" corten steel plates. Each one weighs about 1000 pounds. At the base is a dog tag giving the name of the service member along with job and branch of service.
Take time to visit some before begining your search for the cache. You are looking for a simple black bison on the back of a tree.
