Geocache Description:

This location is the site of the National Lumbering Hall of Fame tree walk, pillars that held the monorail from the “big mill” to the little mill”, and planned site of the National Lumbering Hall of Fame building.

The Tree Walk is a path you can follow to learn about and see examples of different types of trees. Please note: You do not need to disturb any trees to find this cache.

You can see the big pillars and learn about the history of milling in Rice Lake, WI.

I have walked many miles along the path during breaks at work! There’s so much nature and wildlife to experience. You can see geese and ducks (and their babies in the spring) but please don’t feed them! What goes in must come out and I prefer it not be on the walking path! There is an Osprey nest at the location so you may see an Osprey (or other bird) catch a fish. Mama Osprey may get a little vocal if she has babies in her nest. I’ve seen an otter frolicking and fishing also.

There are a few benches in along the park to sit and soak up the nature. Sometimes you can even get the wood mill scent waifing through the park from the mill across the boat landing. Did I mention there is a boat landing nearby if you are in the mood for some fishing!

This cache is handicap accessible in the summer
