Oak Creek is a major tributary of the Verde River and is one of the few perennial streams in northern Arizona. Floating downstream will take you all the way to Phoenix! This portion of the Bubbling Ponds Preserve provides access to groves of magnificent old Fremont Cottonwoods which need lots of water to thrive. The creek is home to many birds and wildlife such as beaver and otter. This riparian habitat is endangered throughout Arizona but is flourishing at the Preserve.
This area is designated an Important Bird Area or IBA. The Arizona Game & Fish Department and the Northern Arizona Audubon Society jointly manage this peaceful area.
This is an easy walk on a flat, bark chip surface to get to the cache. This is part of a series of caches; placed with permission. Sit for a moment and enjoy the babbling sounds of the creek. Get out and see the world!
