Geocache Description:

A quick and easy offset multi that takes you to the chapel of Saint Clarus at Livery Dole. The final is less than 200m from the headline coordinates.

Livery Dole is a triangular parcel of land bound by modern day Barrack Road, Magdalen Road and Heavitree Road. Until 1531 it was a site where executions took place and the earliest recorded church on this site is documented in 1418 as a place to pray for the souls of those executed here.

The chapel you see today dates from 1592 and was built by Robert Dennis. Almshouses were built on the site at the same time but the ones you see today date from 1849.

Before you set to finding the cache head east from the headline coordinates and you will see a Victorian lantern dedicated to the memory of General Gordon who died during the siege of Khartoum.

So, on to the cache. At the headline coordinates you will see a plaque on the building. Count the number of words on each line of the plaque and assign them A to G. Do not include numbers, E would be 1 because 10.30am is not a word.

You will find the cache at N 50 43.AG(C+D) W 003 30.(A+B)(B+D)(F-G) and you are looking for a commonly used cache container hiding in plain sight and accessible from the pavement.
