It's a puzzle cache, so you know the cache is not at the published coordinates. You must solve an interesting puzzle to find the cache container.
For several years, I have hosted a small group of students who I meet with regularly. The kids have moved on each year, but each group is often brilliant, always challenging me and each other, sometimes frustrating, rarely apathetic. Some are artistic, some are math whizzes, some are simply people who enjoy using their brains..
Recently, I have been offering them puzzles to solve. Sometimes they are puzzles from geocaches. They helped me solve one a few weeks ago by urging me to "lose the tunnel vision." A couple of weeks ago, I gave them the puzzle below. They are permitted to use any resource except search engines such as Google. Two of the students solved this one in about 45 minutes without the use of any electronic devices, using only resources available in most classrooms. Amazing to me, because when I came across this last year, it took me a few days to see the solution.
Give it a try. The title of the cache is a clue.
Determine the missing numbers in the series below:
{13, 18, 20, 27, __, 31, 49, 57, 25, 109, 101, 42, 60, 10, __, 91, 21}
To find the cache: subtract the first missing number from the posted latitude after the decimal, add the second missing number to the posted longitude after the decimal.
