NETS: North End Trail System. Along many of these trails, especially when there is not a great deal of human activity, you have a better opportunity to see, hear and learn. On my trek out here today, it was once again very quiet...until suddenly a bird decided to let me know he was around! It may have been a vireo, or shrike, or even a Northern Flicker. It was loud and persistant for several minutes....then it was silent.
Also along the trail were several prints and "diggings". I was certain of the racoon prints, a large bird print that I couldn't clearly identify, what may have been a small hog print, and at least one set of small bear prints.
You can also find habitats for smaller critters if you search quietly and carefully!
