El olivo
Esta letterbox está dedicada a mi abuela. Está escondida en propiedad privada con permiso del propietario.
El olivo, olivera o aceituno (Olea europaea) es un árbol pequeño perennifolio, longevo, que puede alcanzar hasta 15 m de altura, con copa ancha y tronco grueso, de aspecto retorcido. Su corteza es finamente fisurada, de color gris o plateado. Tiene las hojas opuestas, de 2 a 8 cm de largo, lanceoladas con el ápice ligeramente puntiagudo, enteras, coriáceas, glabras y verdes grises oscuras por la haz, más pálidas y densamente escamosas por el envés, más o menos sésiles o con un peciolo muy corto. Las flores son hermafroditas, en panículas axilares multifloras, con corola blanca. El fruto, la aceituna, es una drupa suculenta y muy oleosa de 1 a 3,5 cm de largo, ovoide o algo globosa, verde al principio, que precisa de aproximadamente medio año, en variedades dedicadas a la producción de aceite, para adquirir un color negro-morado en su plena madurez. Su periodo de floración sucede entre mayo y julio en el hemisferio norte, y entre noviembre y enero en el hemisferio sur, mientras que su periodo de fructificación ocurre entre septiembre y diciembre en el hemisferio norte, y entre marzo y junio en el hemisferio sur. De este fruto se obtiene un aceite muy apreciado en gastronomía, el aceite de oliva.

Solo encontraréis la letterbox si elegís la respuesta correcta. Podéis llegar a pie (10-15 min) o en coche, pero no hay aparcamiento aunque podéis dejar el coche muy cerca mientras buscáis el caché. Si alguien os pregunta qué hacéis allí decid que sois amigos de Laura ;)

The olive, known by the botanical name Olea europaea, meaning "European olive", is a species of small tree in the family Oleaceae, found in the Mediterranean Basin from Portugal to the Levant, the Arabian Peninsula, and southern Asia as far east as China, as well as the Canary Islands and Réunion. The species is cultivated in many places and considered naturalized in all the countries of the Mediterranean coast, as well as in Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Java, Norfolk Island, California, and Bermuda.[1][2] Olea europeana sylvestris[3] is a subspecies that corresponds to a smaller tree bearing noticeably smaller fruit. The olive's fruit, also called the olive, is of major agricultural importance in the Mediterranean region as the source of olive oil; it is one of the core ingredients in Mediterranean cuisine. The tree and its fruit give their name to the plant family, which also includes species such as lilacs, jasmine, Forsythia, and the true ash trees (Fraxinus). The word derives from Latin ŏlīva ("olive fruit", "olive tree"; "olive oil" is ŏlĕum)[4] a borrowing from the Greek ἐλαία (elaía, "olive fruit", "olive tree") and ἔλαιον (élaion, "olive oil")[5] in the archaic form *ἐλαίϝα.[6] The oldest attested forms of the Greek words are the Mycenaean, e-ra-wa, e-ra-wo, e-rai-wo, written in the Linear B syllabic script. The word "oil" in multiple languages ultimately derives from the name of this tree and its fruit.
In order to find this cache you have to go to virtual coordinates. When you got there, if you see:
- a market, go to N 36° 47.328' W 005° 07.327'
- an hotel, go to N 36° 47.084' W 005° 07.611'
- a gym, go to N 36° 46.574' W 005° 06.941'
- a factory, go to N 36° 47.220' W 005° 06.528'
You will find this letterbox only if you choose the right answer. You can go walking (about 10-15min) or by car but there is no parking there even if you leave the car close to the cache. If anyone ask you what were you doing just say "Soy un amigo de Laura" ;)
