ROGUE 2018 Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Major_Boothroyd: I just want to say thanks to everyone that showed up at this event. It was my first " competition" style event here in Florida, and after reading the comments, it looks like everyone had a good time. I am already putting some ideas together for the next one. Not sure if it will be this year or next....but it seems to be cold in January, so I think if I have one next year...maybe February would be a bit warmer....we'll see. Congratulations to all the winners, and thanks to you all who donated prizes for the raffle. Hope to see you all around the area geocaching, and again at my next event. Looks like everyone has logged the event... so I will go ahead and archive it now. See you all later!!

Geocache Description:

The ROGUE is an idea I had back in 2016 before moving to Florida. It stands for Racing Outdoors Geocaching Urban Event. Each event will have a Unique theme for that day. This year the title is Hunt for the Pirates Treasure. I hope that each of you have fun and enjoy the day. Below is the information about the event and the days activities.

Maximum of 15 teams for this event

Q's Hunt For The Pirates Treasure is a fun event you can do as an individual or with a group of friends.  This will be a day long event to participate and find 20-30 new caches and come away with some prizes. The event times below are for breakfast in the morning and the dinner in the evening... you can attend either time to log this event.... the logbook will only be posted during these times.... the pancake breakfast in the morning will be where you will get the details on the hunt for the day and your teams competition package......but you can start anytime you want...then show up at the finish line in the evening. ** Note... if  you plan on participating and you miss the starting of the event, please call me on my cell after 8:30 and I can go over the details of the day and to meet so I can give you your team package ( 727-307-4362 ).

The 20-30 new caches will be published on Friday night January 19th for you to download in advance of the event.  I do ask that you please do not search for these until after the 8:30 a.m. breakfast if you are participating in the Treasure Hunt.

7 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. - Pancake & Sausage breakfast at GZ for everyone to get your strength up before you head out.  (GC7GCGD)
During this time the CO will go over all the details about the search for the pirates treasure.
There will be 15 locations that you will search for with instructions on where to find the "Gold" once you arrive at GZ.
Your job as treasure hunters will be to obtain 15 gold nuggets for your team. ( individual or group team ).
Also, during the hunt for caches you will come across the coordinates of a special treasure.... the first 3 teams to find these "special coordinates" will have the opportunity for a 1st, 2nd and 3rd bonus prize.   More details of this treasure will be announced during the event in the a.m.

Scavenger Hunt:Included in your competition package are 3 sheets with pictures for a Scavenger Hunt. For those who have multiple team members.... they will have to keep their eyes on the road for items that match the photos on your scavenger hunt paper. Once you find an item and arrive at GZ, there is a question to answer and for you to write your answer on the scavenger hunt paper. Bring the paper to the evening cookout and prizes will be given to some of you that finish all the items on the Scavenger Hunt worksheet.

4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.Finish Line N 29° 01.227 W 082° 04.208 This is where all the Treasure hunters will end up at the end of the day.  Here we will have a hot dog cookout.  During this time, we will announce all the winners of the day.

While logging your "will attend" try to mention if you are an individual team or a group team... if you are a group team... please list a team name if you have one....( try to make it pirate related hehe... the Ocala raiders.. or the Gainseville Gold diggers etc... ) and list how many are in your group... thank you.  This will give me an idea for the food for the day.

PARKING...... Morning...You may park in the driveway and in the yard.... there is also an empty grassy lot across the street that we have permission to park there....but you must pull straight in from the street and back out.... the owner does not want people to make U-turns in the grass.

PARKING...... Evening...You may park in the driveway and anywhere in the yard.... .

*** Please bring a folding chair to sit in.... you will need it for both the morning and evening***
