When I go to visit my parents in Robertson, Geomum and I often go out caching. Geomum mentioned she wanted to hide a cache, so I looked on the map to find a place to hide a cache. I discovered the Main Street of Burrawang was lacking a cache, so we decided to put one at the Burrawang School of Arts. Burrawang School of Arts consists of three buildings. * The original 1883 oddfellows Hall, now known as the Middle Hall. * The 1906 library, known variously as the Doctors rooms, store room or Gallery. *The 1915 Dance Hall, now known as the Main Hall For many years the original Hall was used as a billard room and was built in 1883 by the Oddfellows Lodge. There’s no surviving record of when the School of Arts was actually formed but the secretary retired in 1920 after 25 years in the position,so that is was in operation in 1896- but whether this was the original secretary is unclear. In 1917 permission was given for the erection of a monument and roll of honour at the front of the Hall. In 1991 the school of Arts was transferred from a Trusteeship to the Burrawang School of Arts Incorporated and continues to be operated for the benefit of the community by a committee of enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers. Stealth may be required on busy days. Keep a eye on the Geokiddies as this road can be busy at times. Why not try the local pub while in town. Please respect the plants and monument. ***Congrats to Cullum68 & Nissan65 FTF****
