Il santuario di Santa Rita è il santuario più grande d’Europa dedicato alla Santa di Cascia.
L'origine del santuario è legata al grande desiderio degli Agostiniani della Provincia Ligure di ritornare a Milano, la culla del loro Ordine.
Il santuario, progettato dall’ing.Giuseppe Invitti, e’ maestoso nella sua forma basilicale (l’area coperta del Santuario misura mq.1.800) pianta a croce latina articolata in tre navate che misurano complessivamente in larghezza m.28, e l’altezza massima della chiesa e’ di m 32 all’esterno e di m 25 all’interno.
Le opere di decorazione e di arredo vennero condotte a termine in poco piu’ di dieci anni. La facciata, completata nel ’56, e’ caratterizzata da un grande arco centrale, rivestita in parte da ceppo bergamasco e in parte in mattone. Le lunette che sovrastano i portali d’ingresso sono abbellite da mosaici, mentre il portone di bronzo raffigura la vita di S.Rita prima di entrare in Monastero: fidanzamento, matrimonio, vita familiare, lavori domestici. L’interno e’ arricchito da una grande profusione di mosaici illustrano scene evangeliche.
Intorno alla chiesa girano diverse attività, da quelle sportive a quelle sociali. Come attività sportive ci sono diversi campi da calcio outdoor e indoor, un campo da pallavolo, una squadra di calcio a 11 e una di pallavolo. All'esterno anche un piccolo parco giochi per bambini. Come attività sociali, a parte il bar, c'è la cooperativa sociale Santa Rita Onlus, il coro Family&friends e l'oratorio.

Il Santuario è aperto tutti i giorni dalle 7 alle 12 e dalle 15 alle 19.
CACHE:
La cache è una micro e contiene solo il logbook quindi portatevi la penna.
C'è da fare molta attenzione perchè c'è molta gente di passaggio, soprattutto il Lunedì, giorno dove si tiene il mercato di quartiere.

The sanctuary of Santa Rita is the largest sanctuary in Europe dedicated to the Santa of Cascia.
The origin of the sanctuary is linked to the great desire of the Augustinians of the Ligurian Province to return to Milan, the cradle of their Order.
The sanctuary, designed by Ing.Giuseppe Invitti, is majestic in its basilica form (the covered area of the Sanctuary measuring 1.800 sq. M.), A Latin cross plan divided into three naves measuring a total of m.28 in width, and the maximum height of the church is 32 m outside and 25 m inside.
The works of decoration and furnishing were carried out in little more than ten years. The façade, completed in 1956, is characterized by a large central arch, partly covered by a Bergamasco block and partly brick. The lunettes above the entrance portals are embellished with mosaics, while the bronze door depicts the life of St. Rita before entering the monastery: engagement, marriage, family life, housework. The interior is enriched by a great profusion of mosaics illustrating scenes of the Gospel.
Around the church there are various activities, from sports to social activities. As sports activities there are several outdoor and indoor soccer fields, a volleyball court, an 11-a-side football team and a volleyball team. Outside also a small playground for children. As social activities, apart from the bar, there is the social cooperative Santa Rita Onlus, the choir Family & friends and the oratory.

The Sanctuary is open every day from 7 to 12 and from 15 to 19.

There is a lot of attention to be done because there are many people passing through, especially on Monday, the day where the market is held in the neighborhood.
