Geocache Description:

THE CHALLENGE:  To log this cache you must have found and logged at least 1 cache from 68 of the 71 South Australian Local Government Areas listed in the table below.

The cache is at the Posted Co-Ordinates. You will need to qualify to log this cache as found on geocaching.com. Any "Found logs" not meeting the requirements will be deleted. It is encouraged for notes of your progress to be logged online.

Welcome to the South Australian LGA Polygon Challenge

LGA stands for Local Government Areas and is a collection of 71 individual polygons which define these areas within the great state of South Australia. These are also known as Counties in other parts of the world.

The idea of this challenge is to get you to explore South Australia in much the same fashion as the Well Travelled Cacher Challenge and Victoria Country Road Atlas Challenge does, but this time to direct you to visit specific areas which consist of local cities and towns that make up our fine state.

Useful Tools

Google Earth is a very useful tool at seeing both the LGA boundaries and where caches sit within them. Download this KMZ file to view them in Google Earth along with caches exported from geocaching.com.

Alert: As the cache owner, I declare that these files are safe to download but has not been checked by Groundspeak or by the Reviewer for possible malicious content. As a result, you are downloading this file at your own risk.

Project-GC has a tool that might help indicate how close you are to completing this challenge project-gc. There is also a Challenge Checker which will report on your progress.

The Rules:

1) Find a physical cache in each polygon area as per the list above.

Virtual Caches, Webcam Caches, Earth Caches, Event Caches and any other type of cache that does not have a container with a log book DO NOT qualify as finds for the purposes of this challenge. Unknown/Puzzle Caches and Multi Caches DO qualify for the challenge but the posted coordinates of the cache must be within the polygon boundary.  The inverse DO NOT qualify for this challenge, i.e. puzzle or multi caches whose posted coordinates lie outside of the polygon boundary but whose GZ actual coordinates lie inside the polygon boundary.

2)  Please note, these FINDS must be your finds on GEOCACHING.COM only

3) Any Finds found before the published date of this challenge can be included in your list as well as any which may be now archived

4)  *** WHAT TO INCLUDE WHEN LOGGING YOUR FIND ***

GC Code / Date Found / LGA Name (refer to table above)

Example : GC155 / 2006-04-30 / Mitcham

THE CACHE:

THIS cache contains a log sheet, a selection of small swaps and a pencil.  Once finds have been verified it will be posted.

Have fun with your adventures and thank you for making the effort to complete the South Australian LGA Challenge.

What is a CHALLENGE CACHE, you ask.

A challenge cache requires that geocachers meet a geocaching-related qualification or series of tasks before the challenge cache can be logged.

Please take these challenges in the fun spirit they have been created with. They are not deliberately designed to exclude or discriminate against any Geocachers, but to create a sense of achievement when you reach certain goals.
