This cache has been placed to promote the use of the the Ayrshire Coastal Path - a long distance walking route100 miles long from Glenapp to Skelmorlie.

The Path passes through the grounds of the Castle and walker enjoy access.

The Cache was placed by pupils of Willowbank School in Kilmarnock as part of their successful Duke of Edinburgh Silver Expedition.

The location was chosen by pupils as it was a opportune resting point next to the Gas House where gas for lighting the castle was produced.
Not really suitable for a cache and dash but parking and access can be gained to the Coastal Path at many points, including the Castle and Country Park.
