This series will take you to pieces of artwork, sculptures or down right goofy things that I thought would be fun for people to take their pictures with. I find that even though going to meet and greet events, that it is still hard to put faces to cacher names and thought that through these "selfies”, it would be a great way to get to know others in this hobby. While a photo is not required, it would make this old rum addled barnacle encrusted octopus fart, a happy fellow if you included one.
This is the fourth in this series. I am very happy to have found another piece of hidden artwork that I get to bring people to see. This build is the the distribution center for the Madison Public Library system, so I hope you will find this mural as amusing as I do, knowing what happens here. This mural was done by a local artist for free because they are big fan of the library system. For those of us who have lived in Madison for a long time, know that the City can have some strange laws and restrictions on businesses. For a short time there was actual talk that this mural was in violation of an ordinance about advertising what type of business is at the given location and have to be painted over. This was even though it is a City entity itself. Some will remember that a certain business on East Washington Street located just before the Stoughton Rd intersection was forced to repaint the exterior of the building because it violated this same ordinance.
With all of that said, please come and enjoy a hidden gem. I find it best viewed from across the street to get a good perspective of the artist's use of the buildings shape to make the mural come alive. Rumdum.
