Geocache Description:

This cache is not at the posted coordinates, but within 2 km of the park. There is no physical cache in the gardens.

The Italian Gardens is an elaborate park built between 2000 and 2001. The area, which includes a run-off water fountain and many sculptures, was funded and owned by post-Second World War Italian immigrants. The gardens also include the Opera Walk, picnic tables, bold designs and plantings. The most distinctive plantings in the park include pear, lavender, mulberry, and grape. The Opera Walk has a large children's play area as well. The garden is located next to a skate park and is rented by the Fair at the PNE (Pacific National Exhibition) for two weeks.

The gardens are found within Hastings Park. The large park also contains the horse racetrack, the Sanctuary, the skatepark, Empire Field, Creekway Park, Plateau Park, the Momiji Gardens, the Pacific Coliseum, the Agrodome, and the PNE and Playland grounds used at various times throughout the year.

In the gardens, there are many sculptures and plaques. Use these to find the coordinates for the final physical cache, but do not forget to enjoy the park while you are there! Complete the coordinates in any order. The coordinates are:

N 049 AB.CDE     W 123 FG.HIJ

Important: The gardens are within PNE fairgrounds during the PNE fairtime season. You cannot access the gardens without admission during this time. It is not recommended that you find this cache during fairtime. The physical cache is not located on PNE grounds. Follow all parking signs and restrictions.
