Nice quick short walk. Watch the fishermen fish for trout. Location: Central North Island, Rotorua Nearest Town: Rotorua Nearest City: Between Rotorua and Taupo Length of Walk: 0.50kms Time Needed: 35 minutes Difficulty: Very Easy Wheelchair Access: No Route: Round Trip Elevation: 419m Wet Feet: No Toilets: Yes Dogs: Yes Cellphone: Yes Date last updated: October, 2007 Track quality: Grass track Hazards: Don’t up set the trout fisherman Driving Instructions: Drive south on Highway 30 out of Rotorua, to Taupo. Fenton St is the main road south out of Rotorua. You will know it from all the motels and hotels along is full length. You’ll drive past Rainbow Mountain. At 26km there is a turn off to the left on to Highway 38. This highway goes to a forestry town called Murupara, then on to Lake Waikaremona then on to the east coast of NZ, to a town on called Wairoa. Turn to the left, drive for 1.2km then turn to the left onto Okaro Rd. Drive 800m to the Okaro car park. Driving home, keep driving down Okaro Rd. For 7.9km then turn right, back on to the main Highway and back in to Rotorua Camping on track: Yes Very quiet relaxing country outlook. Also a very popular trout fishing lake. Watching them fly fish for trout is great fun
