In the early Middle Ages, a xenodochium or xenodoch(e)ion (from Ancient Greek ξενοδοχεῖον, ksenodokheion; place for strangers, inn, guesthouse) was a type of hostel or hospital, usually specifically for foreigners or pilgrims, but the term could refer to charitable institutions in general.
The cache is located at a great place to stop while traveling the Southern Drakensburg. A weary traveller can quench their thirst and fill their tummy, all while enjoying the beautiful surrounds of the Bulwer area.
I have fond memories here, where many a night of my youth was spent meeting and chilling with good friends. I highly recommend stopping longer than the time it takes to find the cache.
If you speak with the establishment's owners, Shane & Kiesta, you may be lucky to be pointed to a waterfall nearby, which can be reached by a short, comfortable hike (about a 7km return journey).
- Shane & Kiesta are aware of the cache, and have kindly granted permission to hide it on their property.
- No purchases are necessary to find the cache, and entrance is unhindered and free.
