Burials took place on farms or in Wynberg until a plot was acquired where the Bel Ombre and rust en Vrede properties met and an inter-denominational cemetery was established on 16th June 1886. There are a number of soldier’s graves dated 1903. It seems these soldiers had died at Wynberg Military Hospital and are not war graves. Officially the Cemetery is full and only families who have relatives buried there can have their plots There have been a couple of recent burials during 2009. There is absolutely no need to walk on any graves to locate this cache
