Welcome to the Golden West Golf Course...or rather, where the golf course used to be.
After the course's property taxes nearly doubled, the owners sold the land in 2007 to Qualico. The plan was to redevelop it in to a business park. 10 years later, we are finally seeing the first of the buildings being put up here. Originally to be called Golden West Business Park, the name was changed in early 2017 to North 170 - Henday Business Park.
The land sat unused and undeveloped for many years; buildings from the golf course falling into disrepair until the entire property was razed in early 2014.
This geocache is located in the middle of what used to be a water hazard, but is now a stormwater pond. You can see how the land has changed, and where the cache is located relative to the golf course on this historical image dated September, 2008. By this point the land was already sold and the golf course had closed permanently (as witnessed by the poor condition of the fairways).
Here is the proposed area plan for the industrial park. As of early 2018 only two lots; B and E, have been sold.
