Geocache Description:

GBTE back to origins

First stop: Project-GC in Malmo

On July 5th 2017 I got on my bike and went on a geocaching tour... After cycling through 16 countries, on Nov 15, 2017 I arrived at my destination: my parent's home in Romania! You probably know about GBTE2017 already: perhaps you followed me from the start, or maybe you read about it in the article written in November on the Geocaching Blog or in the more recent flashback.

Yes, you could have been following me from the start thanks to the wonderful live map made for me by no other than the awesome guy behind Project-GC. It was a great perk that allowed people to see my progress including all the geocaches I found, as soon as I logged them.

Now the trip is over and I am returning to Denmark but first, I am coming to Malmo, because I want to shake hands one more time with the one that made this possible, the man behind the awesome website we all use and love, a geocacher by the name of ganja1447.

Would you like to join us from 11:30 to 12:00?

You can use this event as a great opportunity to find out whatever you would like to know about me and my trip, discover some trackables, including the GBTE2017 GeoCoins (they are out of stock, but maybe we will make more if the request is high).

What is GBTE?

GBTE (Geocaching Bicycle Touring Europe) was my big adventure for the second half of 2017. Cycling and geocaching through Denmark - Germany - Netherlands – Belgium – France – UK – Andorra – Monaco – Spain – Italy – San Marino – Slovenia – Croatia – Serbia – Bulgaria and Romania. It was a trip of over 9000 km in total, during four and a half months.

I planned my route according to the caches, not the other way around: starting with T5 climbing caches, virtual and webcam, old caches, those with many FP and some of the ones nominated for Geocache Of The Week. Basically, all the special ones, you know them!

Also, because I love the social part of geocaching, I hosted events all over along the route! I met extraordinary people, several times locals joined me on geocache hunts after the events, or offered me accomodation or food. Yes, I had the pleasure to meet awesome people!

My tour ended in Romania, on November 15th, but the story is not yet completed! I am returning to Denmark, with a small stop in Malmo...and then END it all where the GBTE Bike originated: at my sponsor SICATECH A/S.
