Geocache Description:

This is a CHALLENGE Cache. The Cache IS at the Posted Coordinates but you MUST complete the challenge before logging a find.

This is a challenge - it is not meant to be easy. This challenge is not going to be for all cachers - but then again, that's why its called a challenge!

This is a series of challenge caches along Fairfax County's Cross County Trail.

To log this cache, you must find at least 600 caches with 25-100 each from up to 8 specific types.

This is an expansion upon one of my all-time favorite caches - GC4150C ▼ The 300 Challenge

THE 600 CHALLENGE

As geocachers, we love accomplishments. Challenge Caches give us that goal to achieve. Before you lies The Challenge Cache Trail. There are caches for the newbies and veterans out here but this is no power trail.

The Challenge

To qualify for and be able to log a find on this challenge cache you must meet the following requirements:

  • You must have found 600 caches with 25-100 each from up to 8 specific types.

The challenge of this cache is all about diversity. To claim this cache you must have found 600 or more caches of types other than "Traditional". But there is a catch. To ensure diversity there are some rules.

    The rules are as follows:

A minimum of 600 caches is needed to claim the find.

    Traditional caches can't be counted.

A maximum of 100 for any cache type is allowed to count towards the final tally. You may have 179 puzzle caches, but you can only count 100 of those towards your 600.

For a cache type to count towards the 600 total, you must have found at minimum 25 caches of that type. So if you have 24 Earthcaches, you can't count any of them towards the total. If you have 26 Earthcaches, they all count towards the total (but remember Rule 3, if you have 101 Earthcaches only 100 count towards the total).

    Previous finds count.

Again, this challenge is about diversity. The minimum number of cache types needed to reach the 600 would be 6 (as 6 x 100 = 600).

The maximum number of cache types that could be used would be 24 (as 24 x 25 = 600). Note: Since there are not 24 different Cache Types this is not really possible. Note: Excluded are Traditional, Benchmarks, Lab Caches and Locationless cache types.

    All permutations between those two extremes count. For example;

    100 Earthcaches, 100 Multicaches, 100 Unknown Caches, 100 Virtual, 100 Wherigo, 100 Events = 600

This Cache Hide

This cache container IS at the posted coordinates.

Pay attention to all details/attributes of the listing for your clues.

Per the recommendation, the difficulty rating is based on the Challenge - the terrain is based upon the tradition of 5/5 caches - with much effort required to attain the required challenge. Good luck and start planning your adventures now. The rating for this cache is:

5.0/5.0

Rules for the challenge caches in this series:
  1. As with all caches, the decision as to whether a log is valid rests solely with the cache owner.
  2. We have provided a verification tool. It might not be perfect and is therefore not the final authority (see #1).
  3. You may sign the log before completing the challenge. If you have do this, please use a "Write note" log to record your find and then a "Found it" log once you have completed the challenge.
  4. Your log does not need to contain enough information to prove you have met the challenge - that can be determined from the Project-GC checker. I suggest you use the verification checker on this cache page to prove you have met the challenge. Please do not provide the entire output of the checker as it can sometimes be quite verbose.
  5. I may double-check your qualifications with the Project-GC checker after you have logged your find.
  6. Any finds that do not qualify for this challenge or lack a signature on logsheet will be deleted without notice.

ABOUT THE CROSS COUNTY TRAIL:

This cache is not on the trail but is easy to access from the the Cross County Trail (CCT). There are over 50 caches along the 40 mile trail. This is no power trail as many of the hides are different in type, size, difficulty and terrain. If you want to know where to park or get food or a bathroom along the trail you need to check out CCT (CCT - Welcome to the Cross County Trail). It is loaded with valuable information including maps of the entire CCT.

Permission for the placement of this cache has been given by the Fairfax County Park Authority

Night caching not allowed.
