Champagne is an effervescent wine produced in the Champagne region of France. This renowned region is 90 miles northeast of Paris. The cool climate and chalky soil are ideal for sparkling wines. Only wine form this region can truly be called “Champagne”. In America we tend to “rip off” the term for all sparkling wine. So I thought it was an appropriate title for this cache.
Please read the entire page carefully before setting out to seek this cache. This is "Challenge" cache.
The cache container IS at the posted coordinates but there is a challenge to complete before logging. Only online "found it" logs that have previously satisfied the "Challenge" will remain on the listing.
This will be a warm up for the “Fizzy Challenge”. For this Challenge, you will need to find a cache with every whole-star combination of difficulty/terrain (D/T). You will need at least 25 caches to accomplish this. Since this Challenge is just a warm up for the Fizzy Challenge, you can use any type of cache to help you qualify for this Challenge.
There are many “mini-Fizzy” or “Fizzy Warm Up” Challenge Caches hidden in different states; but I think the best name for this type of Challenge is “Champagne”. Originally named as such and was hidden by chefstern in Colorado Springs, Champagne (GC19CZK). KJKlock Received permission from chefstern to copy it to San Antonio, Champagne Challenge (Texas Edition) (GC2ERDP). KJKlock in turn said that it was OK for me to place one in Connecticut. The first paragraph of this cache page is actually a copy-paste from the original Champagne cache. I have made a few minor changes to the requirements from the original Champagne cache, so be sure to read all the details below.
Basic Rules:
• Caches used to satisfy the requirements for this cache may be of any type, and can come from anywhere in the world.
• Your own hides can not apply towards the goal, even if you hid it under a separate caching name that you own or are a “member” of.
• No rating changes of existing caches will be accepted as counting towards the goal.
• Generally accepted Geocaching.com rules, guidelines and conditions for logging a cache find will apply.
• The caches must be listed on Geocaching.com, and you must have personally (physically) found and logged each cache.
• You may have others with you when you log the final, but only those who have fulfilled ALL criteria for this cache will be allowed to log it as a find.
• Finds without appropriate qualification documentation (see below) will be deleted.
• When in doubt ask -- we can discuss it or even seek guidance from others, but the final decision rests with the cache owner.
To get (and keep!) credit for this find:
• When you have found all of the whole-number combinations, you can go and find and sign the log for this Challenge Cache.
• If your profile page does not include a D/T chart, then you must include in your online log a list of all 25 required caches that you have found to qualify you for this Challenge Cache (including the GC numbers and D/T rating for each cache).
• If your profile page is public and displays a D/T chart you do not need to list the caches that you are using for this Challenge Cache in your online log.
