Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the Posted Coordinates

Pi (π)is a fantastic number!  Here are some quick facts you may already know:

  • It is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter
  • It is a mathematical constant used it countless equations and calculations
  • It is an irrational number, meaning that it does not end, does not repeat, and cannot be described as a fraction involving two integers
  • Memorizing pi is a quest of many, some having memorized tens of thousands of digits.

You probably know the first few digits of pi – 3.14.  Do you know the next few? – 3.14159?  How about even further out?

The following are lesser known facts about pi. Figure out the answers to reveal the final coordinates.

Rules:

  • All questions below reference the first million digits of pi. This means digits AFTER the decimal point.  Given pi as 3.14159, 9 would be the 5th digit of pi.
  • When the question asks for the position number for a multi-digit number, it is asking for the position of the beginning of that number.  For example, if the question asked for the position of the first instance of 59 in pi, the answer would be 4.
