Geocache Description:

I discovered this waterfall about fifteen years ago while working on the new school on Densmore rd. I had read something about a waterfall along the creek back here and loved to explore cool places like this. One day after work, I walked along the shale creekbed up to the top of the falls. I didn't know anything about geocaching back then and never got as far back along the creek as I have searching for geocaches in the area.

Densmore creek begins in the north part of the city of Rochester and flows past apartment buildings and residential neighborhoods. Decades worth of car parts and other urban "artifacts" can be found in the ravine nearby. The water quality isn't reported to be the best, but as long as you're not drinking from the creek like you're Bear Grylles or nude bathing like you're on "Naked and Afraid", then you should be fine walking through the water on a warm spring day.

The waterfall cascades over shale and sandstone, approximately fifteen feet from the top to the bottom. High amounts of iron can also be seen in the rocks. In the winter time, the iron can even give the ice a redish color. This creek remains undeveloped and fallen trees are left crossing the creek and sides of the ravine making passing through challenging in places.

The Cache

To find this cache, park at the posted coordinates and follow a wide path that may have been a dirt road at one time years ago. The waterfalls are just down at the end of the trail. The coordinates will be showing across the ravine, there not wrong. You will have to find a way down the ravine into the creek and then back up the other side. You will be looking for a classic ammo can hide, next to a fallen tree with a beautiful view of the falls.

Park in the Legacy at Cranberry Landing lot, farther in the back of the complex at the end of the entrance road. Do not interfere with any operations—this is a private lot.
