X is for marking the spot
“X marks the spot” is what is said upon finding your target has been marked out. Derived from an X on pirate treasure maps.
Although not really a geocaching term it does bring back memories of the Mary Hyde Geocaching adventure and the excellent Pirates of the North Saskatchewan Event from summer of 2017. Some photos have been put in the gallery to reminisce.
The marked spot can be found by determining the number of official attendees at the Pirates of the North Saskatchewan Event held on the Santa Maria in 2017. Were there:
- 28 attendees: N53 29.913 W113 20.694
- 37 attendees: N53 29.967 W113 20.803
- 46 attendees: N53 29.850 W113 20.768
