Geocache Description:

This cache is a tribute to its predecessor GC2H83N- Go With The Flow and to Lakebum, the cache owner who created it.

Every great cache has a story behind it. This is mine.

Go with the flow was my tenth find. Number nine was GCR14B- In The Rough, also a Lakebum hide. Finds one through eight were the kind you cut your teeth on. A few lock and locks, some micros, an ammo can, and then I ran across these two Lakebum hides. That is when my perception of what a cache hide could be was intrigued. A crafty handmade container that could be hidden in plain sight, oblivious to muggles but for a cacher who with a bit of persistence found it, they would be rewarded with a sense of accomplishment and a cache that would bring a smile to their face. That is when I became hooked. I began seeking out more Lakebum hides and was always pleasantly surprised by the unique and creative execution of each one. After a couple of months I was approaching my one hundredth find and I knew I wanted to start hiding my own and I knew I wanted to hide them Lakebum style. Unbeknown to him, he had become my mentor, my sensei if you will. Soon there after, caches were hidden.

I only had the good fortune of meeting the man himself in person on two occasions. The first was at Hydropalooza 2014, a GGA event that he was hosting while serving his time on the steering committee. After a great day caching on the lake, several of us stayed behind after the event ended to share some cold bubbly brewed adult beverage and lots of memories and stories were shared as well. I was truly honored to be surrounded by some of the old school local legends, some that are charter members. That was a great day and one I'll never forget. The second encounter just happened by chance, but again, out on the lake caching with Nadador, TheFranklin4, and the infamous cronicpain. We were in the process of looking for Lakebums hide Danger at Lake Lanier- [GC1RX7C] when he just happens to shout out " Hey Andy" and comes wading over to Nadadors Pontoon. It just so happens this was where Lakebum liked to beach his boat and do what lakebums love to do... bum around on the lake. We all chatted for a bit and then we went on our way to find the cache. That's my only interaction with the one who inspired me...

Lately I've been watching his creations, one by one, being red lined and thrown on the ash heap of archived caches. It is a sad thing to witness. They fall into disrepair, and the calls for cache redemption go unanswered. I have no idea what happened but all I can surmise is a total burn out after so many years being in the game. As a cache owner I guess the never ending maintenance on a crafty cache finally takes its toll. If you have never found a Lakebum hide I recommend you seek out the ones that remain. You will not be disappointed. Get'em before they are Gone With The Flow.

Thank you Lakebum for everything you did to elevate this game!
