Ayios Trias Basilica to the North of the village Sipahli
The basilica was discovered by accident in 1957 and is famous for its well preserved mosaics. It had three platforms decorated with mosaics - geometric, leaf, cross and even a pair of sandals motifs. It has been dated to the end of the 5th and early 6th centuries. The site was destroyed by Arab raiders in the 7th century. A small church with some additional buildings was constructed to the south of the basilica but these too were destroyed in 9th - 10th century. There is an inscription in front of the apse which states a deacon called Heraclios 'paid for the building of this part of the structure'.
this is a Heritage site. There is a small charge of 7TL and is open from 09:30 - 17:00.
