Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

runner5ive: It is with great regret that I am archiving the Harry Potter series.

Being a CO is a great responsibility. I was willing to take on that responsibility, but I have since taken on other responsibilities. I won’t be archiving ALL my caches, I have chosen the Harry Potter series to archive for now.

It started off with the Philosopher’s Stone, then I had a puzzle idea and place for Order of the Phoenix, and I was very happy with those two. After that, I rushed the rest out to create a series. I’ve always felt that I could have done better with more time and patience and dedication.

They don’t get found much any more, so I think they’ve run their course. I seem to be doing more maintenance on them than they are getting logged.

Additionally, the author of the eponymous books does not instil me with much pride any more.

Thank you everyone who has taken the time to find this cache.

Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the listed co-ordinates.

From Greek mythology, the phoenix is a bird that is as large as an eagle. Some texts say the phoenix has red and gold plumage, some say that it is bright purple, and others liken it to a peacock. It is believed that the name 'Phoenix' originally comes from the Latin word 'phoeniceus' meaning deep-red or scarlet, describing it's plumage.

Only one phoenix ever exists at any one time. It regenerates by combusting into flames, where a new phoenix would arise and start life. The phoenix lives for a long time, no less than 500 years. Although originating from Greek mythology, it has been said the phoenix lives in the jungles of India, and every 500 years travels to Lebanon to be reborn. The bird symbolises creation and destruction, regeneration, and in some cultures, warfare.

You will find a cache by solving the following puzzle. At the final location, you will see an artwork depicting a 'phoenix' (use your imagination!). Look for the artwork's plaque, and the cache is hidden behind this plaque. It is mint tin with magnets. You will need to bring a pen.
