I have decided to take the plunge and host A Mardle Geocaching Event at Geldeston Locks in Norfolk.
The Address for Geldeston Locks is as follows
Lock's Lane, Geldeston, Beccles NR34 0HS
Q. What Is a Mardle? A. The word Mardle is a Norfolk/Suffolk slang for a chat, a gathering and traditionally was by a pond. It is used as a title for the monthly Geocaching meetings for the area. So please join us for our Monthly Mardle - Everyone welcome for a socialise and chat and we would love to see you all at this event.
The Locks is set in a remote location Just outside Geldeston (and only 200 yards from the The Old Post Office) you'll find the start of the lane which leads to the Geldeston Locks. Notice I say "start of the lane", and not "the pub itself". The Geldeston Locks is well signposted from the road, although you still have another mile to get to to the pub.
In the winter months the Geldeston Locks will be open from 12 noon to 18:00 and food will be served from 12 noon till 1700. The event will start at 12:30 and finish at 1500 this will hopefully give enough time for people to order and eat food if they wish.
I have been advised by the owner that there is disabled access and that dogs are welcome. I am really looking forward to meeting other Geocachers to exchange stories and to swop /log Trackables with.
Please let me know if you require food at the Locks so that I can give the Landlord an idea of numbers attending please.
