Geocache Description:



• Saturday May 5th, 2018 •
• 10:00 a.m. – 5 p.m. •

This year, the SLAGA Spring Picnic heads north to Spanish Lake Park. This 242-acre park features a stunning lake that's perfect for fishing, ball fields, trails, a cross-country course, football field, tennis courts, a basketball court and playgrounds.

We will be meeting at the Manny Broadway Shelter. With a capacity of around 300 people, lots of picnic tables, electricity, water and barbecue pits, this shelter is a great place with plenty of room for all of us. It is totally wheelchair accessible and dog friendly, too!
DETAILS

SLAGA will be supplying the hot dogs, brats and hamburgers along with condiments, plates, napkins and utensils. We ask that you bring a side dish or other food to share and your drinks. Mexican-themed items would be really cool, given the holiday! The prices will be as follows:
  • SLAGA premium members: $5
  • Non premium members: $7
  • Kids 5-12 $3.00
  • Kids 4 and under free
Please post your "Will Attend" log as soon as you can with the number of people attending, your preference of meat and how many you'd like. This allows us to order what we need without buying too much. Please list what dish you will be bringing as well.


We will be having a 50-50 drawing (you must be present to win), Geo Bingo, Silent Auction, Travel Bug Table and a Closest to the Pin contest.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

  • 9:00–10:00 a.m. - Set up.
  • 10:00 a.m. - Registration begins.
  • 12:00 p.m. - Lunch begins. Eat, drink, chat, and eat some more!
  • 1:30 p.m. - Silent Auction bidding ends and all games close.
  • 1:30–??? p.m. - General announcements and business, Milestone Awards, Silent Auction and 50-50 winners, GeoBingo and Closest to the Pin results, and Premium Membership drawing.
  • ???–5:00 p.m. Tear down equipment, clean up, hang out, whatever. ;)
2018 SLAGA TB RACE

The entry to the Race will be at the picnic.

* Please note that a small amount of travel bug tags will be available at the Picnic for purchase.

* If you will not be attending the event, we will accept your entry if you send “Hobbit Taz” a message that includes the travel bug code and name, as well as the owner’s geocaching name.

* The mileage recording will only start at the first traditional cache the bug is in on May 13th or later. Visits (drop and pickups) will not be counted for starting location.

* Once released, no other racers can pick up or move any travel bugs, including their own.

* The Race will end one week prior to the SLAGA Winter Potluck and Cabin Fever (Jan 2019).

* Ties will be broken by date of last dropped and final distance from the Picnic, with honorable mention going to the first determined missing and never re-found.

* IF PLACING BEFORE May 13th, it’s recommended that a note explaining that travels starting before May 13th are not counted.

This year there will be three winners:

1) Most Miles – calculated on Geocaching.com

2) Most Caches dropped into – Discovers and cache visits (drop and pick ups don’t count)

3) Least miles traveled (after at least 2 cache drops for calculation purposes)
