A new geocache was published recently with parking coordinates at this location. Here was another SGL gate without a cache... Well, you know what OddMushroom would say (see image below)... When I came out to log the new multicache, I did not want to leave this gate "cache-less" for too long.
Once upon a time, a geocaching log was written that said: "TFTC. Every sgl gate should have one. :)" I could not agree more. It sounded like an idea for a possible series, so here is another cache at another SGL gate.
While at this gate, don't get "Stranded", but do enjoy a new multi right down the road...
This geocache is a small, cylindrical, top-latching container with some camo tape wrapped around the cylinder. It is placed under a rock at the given coordinates. It should basically be a park and grab. The location is SGL 108, just off Wopsy Rd, and even though the cache is at the gate, please exercise sensible precautions if hunters are in the area. During the peak hunting seasons, orange is required to be worn in SGL (except on Sunday, when there is no hunting).
Also, please do not park in such a way as to block the gate or the SGL road. There should be ample room to park in the gravel areas adjacent to the gate. DO NOT attempt to access the cache directly from Wopsy Road. There is plenty of room to park in the pull-off before the gate. Also note that at times the gate may be open as authorized vehicles sometimes come back this road, but the signs at the gate would seem to indicate that no unauthorized motor vehicles are to go beyond the gate itself.
The terrain is pretty easy, but there might be some spring and summertime growth right at GZ (although this may provide excellent additional geo-cover to the rocks). Use sensible precautions when going after the cache and note the standard SGL, in-the-woods attributes that are attached to the cache description.
Of course, since this is a small container, please bring a pen along to sign the log.
A congratulations on FTF goes to rebeard . Thanks for stopping by the gate today!
