V is for Virtual

which is a type of geocache that is about discovering a location rather than a container. The requirements for logging a Virtual Cache vary—you may be required to answer a question about the location, take a picture, complete a task, etc... In any case, you must visit the coordinates before you can post your log. Although many locations are interesting, a Virtual Cache should be out of the ordinary enough to warrant logging a visit.

There are not many Virtual Caches in the Edmonton area. As of this posting they are:

  1. GC6C1C - First Post - Edmonton
  2. GCBB2A - Something on a Stick 'YXD'
  3. GC7B919 - The Wall

Virtual

To determine the location of the geocache you’ll need to do a little virtual research. Find out about these virtual caches:

  1. The world’s highest: Add the digits of the cache elevation. If you get a double digit number continue to add them together until you get a single digit number. Now subtract 2. Call this number A
  2. Of the virtuals as close to zero longitude as possible, the one farther south: How many years after it was placed until it was found. Call this number B
  3. The world’s farthest south: Find the last digit of the latitude. Call this number C
  4. As close to zero latitude as possible: Add the digits of the longitude. If you get a double digit continue to add them together until you get a single digit number. Call this number D
  5. The oldest in the world: Find the month it was hidden. Call this number E
  6. The world’s farthest north: Find the first non zero digit of the longitude. Call this number F
