Geocache Description:

This is Cache Number 183 in the Post Code Series.

The series only moved South of the Scottish Border in September 2017 with this caches (now archived) neighbor 'GC7CPA5 Postcode Cache 83. - Lima Echo 11' being the first in England!

The Burbage local community are working hard to attract more people to the open space 'Sketchley Brook'.

The aim of this cache is to provide Geocachers an insight into the open space. Further 'traditional' caches may follow in the area if this proves popular.

The cache involves 7 different stages in a walk of around 1.3 km around the area to gather the clues needed to solve the final location.

 Important notes:

  • There is a car park by the entrance to the space but this is for residents use, please park considerably on the road side instead (suggested as in the parking waypoint for this cache).
  • There are private allotments on the site, do not trespass onto these or cross any fences etc.
  • There is also a track used by traffic to the allotment, it's advised to not walk along this (footpaths parallel to it can be used instead).
  • All of the stages are accessible from the various footpaths around the site.
  • The final location has been changed in 2024 and is approximately 5 metres from a path. The original location was in a bramble jungle!
  • The lid of the new container is purple please replace it as found i.e. with the camouflaged container bottom facing the path and the purple top facing the overgrowth.
  1. STAGE 1 N 52° 32.089' W 001° 22.047'
    How many round-headed bolts are through the concrete post?
    a = Number of round-headed bolts through the concrete post

  2. STAGE 2 N 52° 32.135' W 001° 22.115'
    How many vertical poles are there in the barrier (total to include short ones at ends)?
    b = Vertical Poles (total to include short ones at ends)

  3. STAGE 3 N 52° 32.147' W 001° 22.065'
    How many holes go completely through the post (they are all in the same direction)?
    c = number of holes (completely through the post but including the bottom ones that appear to be filled)

  4. STAGE 4 N 52° 32.234' W 1° 21.747'
    How many wooden posts run along the paths (with triangular tops)?

    Note: please check all the way towards the railway (one is 'lurking in the bushes' also there should be one in the centre of the track towards Brookside, this one looks like it can be removed to allow vehicle access.

    d = Number of wooden posts (with triangular tops)

  5. STAGE 5N 52° 32.284' W 1° 21.626'
    What number is on the lamp post?
    e = Number on lamp post

  6. STAGE 6 N 52° 32.238' W 1° 21.592'
    How many vertical bars are there on the barrier (the round ones only)?

  7. STAGE 7 N 52° 32.231' W 1° 21.734'
    How many concrete posts run along the paths (with rounded tops)
    g = Number of all concrete posts (with rounded tops)

Now the final cache is located at:
N 52° a e . h j n W 001° k . l m c

Where:
h = c / g
j = b - h
k = f - a
l = b + h
m = d - a
n = g - h
