Geocache Description:

With almost 770 know burials, Salem United Church of Christ is moderate in size for Moniteau County.   Some of the early German/Swiss settlers are buried here.  According to the stone, the first burial in the cemetery was Hilmer Hoffmeister in 1850.  Much research has been done on this Chruch Cemetery.  Many of teh pre 1900 burials came from Chruch Records, Obituarues, and 1883-1894 death records.  Like many United Churches of Christ began as an Evangelicial Church that became Evangelicial & Reformed before the current United Church of Christ.  There is plenty of parking close to the cache site.  Permission has been requested to place the cache.  In the event that there is a cerermony going on please return at a later point in time.
