This cache is placed at a nice place to rest and take in the unbelivable views down to Lake MacKenzie and the MacKenzie Hut, as well as the boulders and forests in between. The hut looks so close, but you are still about an hour of downhill walking away from it.
The forests on the way to the hut are some of the most picturesque in New Zealand, and well worth the walk.
The surrounds can be quite marshy after rain, so watch where you step.
Since the cache is located between the Routeburn Falls and MacKenzie Huts, please note that significant effort, preparation, and planning is required to access this cache. It is an alpine environment, so please take this into account before attempting to access the cache.
