The Lafayette River is a six-mile-long tidal estuary which empties into the Elizabeth River. The small river was initially known as Tanner's Creek. Around 1900, it was renamed the Lafayette River in honor of the Marquis de La Fayette, the French hero of the American Revolution.
THE CACHE IS NOT AT THE POSTED COORDINATES. This is an old-school Letter Box. You need to follow the narrative below to find the cache. Please obey all traffic laws, especially as a pedestrian. Granby Street Park and the parking spots can only be accessed from southbound Granby Street. The only exit from the park is to southbound Granby Street. Plan your driving route accordingly. There is no parking anywhere in the park east of Granby Street. You do not need to leave the park to find the cache. DO NOT TAKE THE STAMP! Please ensure that the container is closed all the way around the top. And, please, DO NOT TAKE THE STAMP!
To find the Letter Box, tie up your carriage at the posted coordinates. Stroll northward to the mystic button. Press it and wait, it will give you the power to navigate to the east across the two bridges of white bars. When you reach the safety of the far shore, turn to the south and repeat the process over two more sets of the white bars. Once you have reached sanctuary under the arms of the ancient ones, turn towards the rising sun and walk along the willowy way. Continue until you come to a place of rest. Have a seat and reflect on the beauty around you. After your pause, stand and walk directly towards the shiny tree (the one with the prickly green leaves and the bright red berries). There, your prize awaits. Avoid the siren's song and your search will be much more rewarding. (Stay off of the rocks!)
Congratulations to Cameramoose for the quick FTF.
